Haldeman Family Home, 1920s
#098-43B In 1887, Gen. John S. “Cerro Gordo” Williams, president of the original Naples Company, built a small house on the beach just south of the pier. Fellow Naples Company director Walter N. Haldeman bought the house from Williams and later used it primarily as a guesthouse. By the 1920’s when this photo was taken, the house was still owned by the Haldeman family. Note the broad, sandy “Gulf Street” to the right.
