Volunteer for Preservation

Be a part of living history! Our doors are always open to community friends interested in donating their time and talent to our mission.   Whether you are interested in becoming a Docent and telling historical facts and stories, working in The Norris Gardens or assisting during our busy Christmas season, we offer a range of volunteer opportunities accompanied by personal instruction to make your experience enjoyable and satisfying.   Listed below are just some of the volunteer opportunities we have available, or call us at 239-261-8164 for more details on how you can be a part of living history. Volunteer opportunities include:

• Docents are extraordinary individuals who are both lovers of history and great communicators! Instruction is provided in groups OR individually.
• Docent-guided tours of the house museum are: Tuesday-Saturday, November thru April, 1-4 p.m. and Wednesday & Saturday, May thru October, 1-4 p.m.
• Walking tours of the Naples Historic District are: Every Wednesday, November thru April at 10 a.m. and the first Wednesday of the month, May thru October at 9 a.m.
• Docent-guided tours of The Norris Gardens at Palm Cottage are: 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month year-round at 10 a.m.

• Pupils at Palm Cottage is a fantastic educational program held at Palm Cottage; they are one-hour educational tours geared toward Collier County school children in lower elementary school.
• Tuesday mornings from 9-12 p.m. during April, May, September and October.

• Annual series (January-March) of free presentations in The Norris Gardens at Palm Cottage featuring diverse topics related to historic preservation and our community.
• Greeters and coordinators for each lecture needed at the registration table.

• Set your own schedule, meet like-minded colleagues and enjoy. Year-round.

• The Norris Gardens at Palm Cottage are lush and maturing beautifully, but always need some TLC. You choose your schedule and our garden coordinator will find something, however big or small, that you will enjoy.

• Volunteer for Christmas at Palm Cottage, a November-December holiday program that showcases Palm Cottage in seasonal splendor! There is a multitude of opportunities to fit your schedule. No training needed!!

• Talk of the Town! is our traveling speaker's bureau program and you can blaze your own trail by arranging speaking engagements and promoting tours of the house museum.
